The results of our study shed light on the role of prolactin in the development of breast tumors

The exciting results of the study of the role of prolactin receptors in the development of benign breast tumors were obtained and published. This is a joint work of the Department of Pathological Anatomy of SumDU, private medical clinic “Mriya” and the Ukrainian-Swedish center “SUMEYA”, which was held for several years and ended with publication in the “Journal of Clinical Medicine” (MDPI, Switzerland). The impact factor of the journal is 4,241. This journal belongs to 1 quartile (Q1) of the Scopus database.

Based on the Ukrainian-Swedish research center SUMEYA, studies on the western blotting of cystic contents of benign breast tumors were performed to detect prolactin and its receptors.

A joint study found no association between serum prolactin levels and receptor expression in tumor and intact tissues. This means that there is no causal link between prolactin and the development of benign breast tumors.

The study results were published with the assistance of the Ukrainian-American Foundation “BioUkraine”.
