On October 3-4, 2023, a Ukrainian-Swedish contact seminar was held with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the National Research Fund of Ukraine, the National Erasmus Office of Ukraine, the Swedish Innovation Agency “Vinnova,” the National Contact Center Horizon Europe (Sweden), the Swedish Council of Higher Education, Ambassador of Ukraine to Sweden Andriy Plahotniuk and Minister of Education of Sweden, Doctor of Philosophy Matts Persson.

The two-day seminar was devoted to issues of education and science, deepening scientific, economic, and cultural ties between the states. In addition to high-ranking guests – representatives of embassies and Ministries of Education- scientists and successful business people gave speeches.

As one of Sweden’s strengths is that industry and research work closely together, the seminar showcased examples of how science and business interact. The seminar aims to inspire participants to collaborate, starting with Horizon Europe, and to show opportunities for continued business.

Ukrainian-Swedish research center SUMEYA, represented by Prof. Roman Moskalenko together with his Swedish colleague Prof. Thomas Boren, presented the collaborative project ARGO, which is implemented within the framework of HORIZON-MSCA-SE-2021: 101086441 “Towards the development of new antibacterial strategies for dentistry.” The partners also shared their experience of cooperation within the framework of scientific projects, two Erasmus+ KA1 projects between Sumy State University and Umeå University, and the history of creating the Ukrainian-Swedish research center SUMEYA.
